StraightUp (NZ) Limited (we, us, our) complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 (the Act) when dealing with personal information. Personal information is information about an identifiable individual (a natural person).

This policy sets out how we will collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may change this policy by uploading a revised policy onto the website. The change will apply from the date that we upload the revised policy.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT

The StraightUp platform enables people to provide anonymous feedback, ask questions and give suggestions or ideas to people within their organisation.

We collect, hold and process two categories of personal information:

  • Feedback Data is personal information that StraightUp users store using, or input into, the StraightUp platform. This may include:
    • name
    • email address
    • feedback e.g. compliments, criticism, suggestions or ideas
Account and Marketing Data is personal information that we collect about individuals:
  • who contact us directly (e.g. telephone call, website enquiry form, email or through our user dashboard) or visit our website
  • who ask to receive information about us, the StraightUp platform or our other services or sign up to our newsletter
  • who sign up to or access or use the StraightUp platform or our other services
  • in connection with the administration of a user account
  • who participate in customer feedback surveys


The Account and Marketing Data we collect may include company/personal names, usernames, email addresses and any other contact information provided to us, location, billing information, purchase history, information about how the individual uses our website, the StraightUp platform or our other services (for example, traffic volumes, time spent on pages), IP address and/or other device identifying data, information contained in correspondence with us or survey responses and other information required to provide a service or information requested from us.

WHO DO WE COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM

We collect Feedback Data when our users input Feedback Data into the StraightUp platform.

We collect Account and Marketing Data from:

  • you, when you provide that personal information to us, including via the website and any related service, through any registration or subscription process, through any contact with us (e.g. telephone call or email), or when you access and use our website, the StraightUp platform or our other services
  • third parties (e.g. your employer or our licensees) who ask us to establish a user account for you, where you have authorised this or the information is publicly available. If possible, we will collect personal information from you directly.

When you visit or use our website, the StraightUp platform or our other services, we may collect information about you:

  • by recording clickstream data, which is non-personal information that is recorded when you click anywhere on a webpage and is used for the purposes of collecting, analysing and reporting data about how you use our website, the StraightUp platform or our other services
  • through the use of cookies, web beacons and similar storage technologies.

HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION

We use Feedback Data solely for the purpose of providing the StraightUp platform to our users.

We may retain and use anonymised non-identifiable Feedback Data:

  • to conduct statistical analysis and identify trends and insights
  • for research and development purposes.

We may use Account and Marketing Data about you:

  • to verify your identity
  • to provide our website, the StraightUp platform or our other services to you
  • to market our services and products to you, including contacting you electronically (e.g. by text or email for this purpose). You can stop receiving our marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in those emails
  • to improve the services and products that we provide to you
  • to bill you and to collect money that you owe us, including authorising and processing credit card transactions
  • to respond to communications from you, including a complaint
  • to conduct research and statistical analysis (on an anonymised basis)
  • to protect and/or enforce our legal rights and interests, including defending any claim
  • for any other purpose authorised by you or the Act
  • to respond to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet law enforcement requirements.

DISCLOSING PERSONAL INFORMATION

We aim to ensure that Feedback Data sent to us anonymously remains anonymous. If you send Feedback Data anonymously, we will not disclose your identity to the user who receives the Feedback Data.

Despite the above, we may not maintain your anonymity if:

However, we may disclose your personal information to:

  • any business that supports our services and products, including any person that hosts or maintains any underlying IT system or data centre that we use to provide the website or other services and products
  • other third parties (for anonymised statistical information)
  • a person who can require us to supply your personal information (e.g. a regulatory authority)
  • any other person authorised by the Act or another law (e.g. a law enforcement agency)
  • any other person authorised by you.

A business that supports our services and products may be located outside New Zealand. This may mean your personal information is held and processed outside New Zealand.

We share information about your use of the website with our trusted analytics partners through the use of cookies, web beacons and similar storage technologies.

PROTECTING PERSONAL INFORMATION

We will take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorised activity, or other misuse.

If you are a user of the StraightUp platform or our other services, you can play an important role in keeping personal information secure by maintaining the confidentiality of any password and accounts used in relation to the StraightUp platform or our other services. Please do not disclose your password to third parties. Please notify us immediately if there is any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security.

ACCESSING AND CORRECTING PERSONAL INFORMATION

Subject to certain grounds for refusal set out in the Act, you have the right to access your readily retrievable personal information about you held in the StraightUp platform or that we otherwise hold about you and to request a correction to your personal information.

If you are an employee of an organisation that is using the StraightUp platform and wish to exercise either of the above rights, you should contact your organisation. If we receive requests to access or correct Feedback Data held in the StraightUp platform, we will forward this request to the relevant organisation, unless we are prohibited to do so by law.

If you believe we hold Account and Marketing Data about you and want to exercise either of the above rights, email us at privacy@trystraightup.com. We will need evidence to confirm that you are the individual to whom the personal information relates. Your email should provide evidence of who you are and set out the details of your request (e.g. the personal information, or the correction, that you are requesting). In respect of a request for correction, if we think the correction is reasonable and we are reasonably able to change the personal information, we will make the correction. If we do not make the correction, we will take reasonable steps to note on the personal information that you requested the correction.

INTERNET USE

While we take reasonable steps to maintain secure internet connections, if you provide us with personal information over the internet, the provision of that information is at your own risk.

If you follow a link on our website to another site, the owner of that site will have its own privacy policy relating to your personal information. We suggest you review that site’s privacy policy before you provide personal information.

COOKIES

We use cookies (an alphanumeric identifier that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive so that we can recognise your browser) to monitor your use of the website, the StraightUp platform and our other services. You may disable cookies by changing the settings on your browser, although this may mean that you cannot use all of the features of the website, the StraightUp platform or our other services.

We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, Inc. (Google), to gather information about how you engage with our website on a unique but anonymous basis.
